Lowes-Fotos Wedding

What a day! Yesterday's wedding between Allison Lowe and Adam Fotos was, to me, one of those picture-perfect events. From the very beginning of the day, I could literally "feel" the love in the air! Not just the obvious love between Allison and Adam, but also their friends and family that surrounded them. From hugs and greetings to toasts and dancing, there was love everywhere! It was such a joy to be able to be a part of such a happy day.

Allison and Adam got married at the Kenmure Country Club in Flat Rock, NC (just south of Asheville) and the weather held out for us! It didn't begin raining until the reception was well underway--it even stopped to let Adam and Allison have a dry "exit". There were lots of cute kids there (see photos!!) and lots of unc-alumni (go heels!). My fellow photographer (and former bride), Katie Monroe was there to assist me--special thanks to Katie for traveling to be a part of the event! (see last photos).

The couple is headed to Greece today for their honeymoon! Congrats Alli and Adam and thanks for letting me be a part of your day! Below are a few highlights from yesterday's festivities:

Take A look at my lovely assistant from Saturday, Katie Monroe! Below are a few photos that she took yesterday! I also wanted to share a few photos taken by me of Katie and her husband Nate's wedding this past fall!!

Thursday with Misty

I spent yesterday with my fellow tarheel (and bride!) Misty Holebrooks for her bridal portrait session at the Asheville Botanical Gardens on UNC-Asheville's campus. We had a fun time, despite the super hot weather and bugs/bees swarming after Misty!! And check out Misty's awesome "something blue" shoes! These not only follow the tradition of "something old, new borrowed and blue", but are just a small part of Misty and her fiancee Justin's "Tarheel blue" wedding (notice the bouquet is also tarheel blue!)--My kind of wedding! Misty and Justin are getting married here in Asheville on July 17 of this year. I met them earlier in the fall in Chapel Hill for their engagement portraits (see bottom photo). Below are a couple highlights of Misty's bridal portrait shoot!

Tuesday with Julia

I was able to spend this afternoon with Julia Holliday for her bridal portriats. It was the perfect day for portraits! Not too hot, not too cold and no call for rain! We started out the day at the Asheville Botanical Gardens on UNC-Asheville's campus and then moved on to the NC Arboretum to finish up. Julia was a super sport and walked all around the gardens in her high heels :) I'll be photographing Julia's wedding to John Rhoden on Aug. 8th of this year in Sylva, NC. I also photographed the couple's engagement portraits last fall (see final photo). Below are a few highlights from today's shoot.

Kelly and Cory's Wedding

I had the pleasure of being a part of Kelly Sivertson and Cory Parson's wedding this past Saturday, May 9. The wedding took place at Centenary United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem, NC with the reception following at Reynolda Hall's Magnolia room on the Wake Forest University Campus. Once again, we had another rainy Saturday, but luckily we were still able to get outside and do some portraits (and look at how green that grass was on the lawn after the rain!).  Pam from Snyder Photo was there doing videography for the event. On a little side note, I did hear recently that it's scientifically more likely to rain on a Saturday due to the pollution that is put in the air by traffic during the week! Pretty interesting, huh? Learn more about it here (I first heard this on NPR).

Back to the wedding!! This wedding party (most of whom have PhD and Masters Degrees) really knew how to get down and dirty on the dance floor! Including a very funny version of the Hokie Pokie dedicated to the Virginia Tech Hokies of the crowd (Kelly is an alum). Cory, however, is a diehard Tarheel! He proposed to Kelly at the Old Well on campus in July (Kelly currently works on UNC campus). And yes, the couple was also on Franklin Street in March for the NCAA championship game!  Here are a few photo highlights from Saturday!

Malinda and Nick Engagement

I had the pleasure of spending Saturday morning photographing Malinda and Nick's engagement portraits at the Biltmore. The couple is getting married at the Biltmore's Garden Conservatory on October 2nd of this year. The wedding will be coordinated by Tara Jordan of Weddings With Tara. Allie, their dog, also joined us for a few photos! After their engagement portraits, Malinda and Nick and their parents enjoyed tasting all the wonderful foods at the Biltmore restaurants to decide what their guests would be eating on the big day! We did have a little bit of a rain on Saturday, but luckily we were able to get some good photographing in before it began to pour. Nick was a true gentleman and protected Malinda from the raindrops!! (see photo!). My little sister, Natalie, also came along as my assistant Saturday (pictured) and helped take care of Allie. Special thanks to my wonderful assistant! Below are a few highlights from our photo shoot!
