As a wedding photographer, I see a lot of new beginnings for couples embarking on the journey of marriage, but it's a rare and special opportunity for me to see the result of a successful marriage 40 years later. Rick and Pat Barker celebrated 40 years with their children and grandchildren at a mountain cabin in Boone, NC this past Sunday, July 11, and I was honored to be there and be a part of such a special celebration!
After only having met Rick minutes earlier, his vows to his wife Pat brought me to tears! I truly hope that I can be like Rick and Pat one day! Telling someone you still love them as much or more than the day you met them after 40 years of marriage is more than anyone can hope for in this life. Telling them in front of the family you created together is priceless.
The setting in Boone on Sunday was perfect at the 'Balance with Nature' Cabin. The cabin sat atop a gorgeous view of the mountains (below) and the weather was sunny, but not too hot! Below are some highlights from this fabulous Sunday afternoon:
Rick and Pat exchanged special rings today to mark their 40 years of marriage (below).
After the ceremony, the family toasted Rick and Pat (below).
Thanks so much for having me as part of such an intimate and special day! 40 years and a beautiful family is so much to be proud of and I wish you 40 more years of happiness together and even more new adventures!
